PROJECT.
As part of our coursework, we were required to conduct an interview with a fellow student regarding their study of a written poetic work. My interviewee selected Enchiridion of Epictetus, a philosophical text by the ancient Stoic thinker Epictetus. Through our discussion, we explored their interpretation of the text, its literary qualities, and its relevance to contemporary thought. This interview provided insight into how philosophical writings, often structured with rhetorical and poetic elements, influence personal perspectives and academic inquiry.
MY WORK.
For this assignment, I created a poster that folds into a brochure, combining visual and textual elements to represent the study of Enchiridion of Epictetus. The design incorporates video footage of the interviewee, integrated seamlessly into the layout, along with hand-drawn accents that evoke the aesthetic of journaling. These elements were chosen to reflect the historical context of Epictetus' era while also providing a personal, contemporary interpretation of the text. The combination of digital media and traditional illustration enhances the interactive and reflective nature of the project, mirroring the introspective themes of Stoic philosophy.
